Anyway TCAF DAY ONE:
It has been one amazing day. I can't say enough good things about this show (and hey, I've had some bad to say before, stupid me...), and the fact I've sold eight trade paperbacks today (one less than two days at MoCCA...) and been having such a good time...
First off, I love comics. I say it loud and proud. A show like this reminds me why. I've been sitting with some of the best folks you can have around you. On one side, the Kitchen brothers (Spy Guy, The Possum), and to my left, the wonderful folks from House of Twelve, including the amazingly talented and lovely Miss Lasko Gross, who had pages from the sequel to Escape From Special there who has had some very nice chats with me in between customers. I've been pushing her book on those folks I know (and have helped in at least two sales, I think...) because it is that damn good.
An amazing venue. The historical "Old Vic" building at the U of T campus. Intimate yet also spacious enough to fit a swell of Exhibitors. An amazing volunteer army of folks, even a guy going around asking if we're alright for change(and selling us some if we're not...), folks coming by to make sure things are going well for us,are we happy with the set up, etc.
It's just been a great, great day. I'd like to offer Chris Butcher (or cro2 as he's known round LJ) a big THANK YOU for having me, and for he and the other fine folks involved in this show for making it a truly, well, AMAZING experience. Even if tomorrow offered no sales, it's been a great show for me, a real fun, being part of comics experience easily the best show I've attended for it's set up and execution.
It's also been a blast to meet awesomeyoder and trade books with him, to see ttallan and her lovely family, to hang with sach, and if I'm breathing in two years, I would LOVE to come back and do it all over again.
More tomorrow, perhaps more coherent.
A BIG YAAAAAAY COMICS!!!!!!
